Summary | 0017557: Directory Choosers should display expected Windows directories
Description | Currently, whenever the user has to choose a directory (e.g. File scanner, Auto-organize, Folders node, ...), it's difficult for many users to find their Music since they don't know that it's stored at e.g. %USERPROFILE%\Music (and they don't know how to navigate to that path). We should add the %USERPROFILE% directory as a top-level directory (along with other disk root) to make this easier for users. It might even make sense to use a layout similar to Explorer: QuickAccess . . Desktop Documents Downloads Music Pictures Video HD1 HD2 HD3 . .

Do we want to hide this behind the username? It may not be clear to users that Music, Downloads, etc. are a sub-node of the Username. Username may not even be clear to those who use a Microsoft account (outlook/hotmail/etc.) for their Windows account. If we do, this issue is resolved and can be closed. |

I think that the current approach with username is fine -- and actually is same as in MM4. Assigned to Rusty for feedback if anything further needs to be changed post 5.0.1 |
|
I believe that most consumer apps show the key folders directly and don't show all the other folders in the User directory. Leaving it open to review in 5.0.2. |

Resolving as there don't seem to be any usability issues related to this. |
