Summary0021254: MediaMonkey grabs file associations from other apps without confirmation
DescriptionOn Windows 10, I'm able to replicate the user-reported issue that installation of MMW 2024 can grab file associations from other apps. Moreover, this does appear to be a regression in MMW 2024. I tested as follows:
1 Updated MMW 5 --> MMW 3061
 --> the number of associated file types increased from 7 to 13
2 Uninstall of MMW 2024
 --> associated file types = 0
3 Re-install MMW 2024
--> associated file types = 13 : asx, cda, cue, dsf, m3u8, m4p, mmip, ogg, pla, pls, vqf, wax xspf
--> strangely, .dsf was shown as associated with 'MediaMonkey 5', whereas all others were associated with MediaMonkey 2024
4 Change file associations for .m3u8 and ogg to Media Player
5 Run MMW
 --> No change in file associations are triggered
6 Re-install & run MMW
 --> File associations for .m3u8 and OGG are re-associated with MMW!

Note: I'm not seeing this on Windows 11 (though it may be the result of some other artifact). My observations are that on install/run of MMW:
1) For filetypes that are not associated with any application (e.g. .mmip, .mpp) MMW 2024 automatically associates itself with those filetypes.
2) For filetypes that are associated with other apps (e.g. alac, mp3, m3u), MMW 2024 doesn't make any changes
3) Upon uninstalling MMW 2024, any associations are automatically undone
