Summary0010881: Folder Browser: MMA is not showing newly added tracks in library view
DescriptionI have noticed strange thing that even I force kill MMA along with deletion of MMA folders from LG phone next start of MMA show same metadata info.

The only way to Kill MMA and reset all setting is to Kill process, delete folders and restart.

NOTE: Same thing happen on Nexus 7 by using Update, so I needed to kill process, uninstall, delete leftovers and restart Nexus prior to MMA reinstall.

In both cases I was using 129

Not sure if this is something we have under control?

Peke, I don't quite understand the bug. I just tested on a Nexus 7 as follows:

Run MM (build 129)
Close MM
Delete a directory containing Album X (using ES Explorer)
Run MM
--> after a few seconds, the directory scanner kicks in
Browse to Artist > Album X
--> the album isn't there, as expected.

Am I misunderstanding the issue?

I have found New way to replicate during tests on Nexus 7:
1. Run MM (build 137)
2. Close MM (Stop button in notification if needed)
3. Copy one file from LAN (network) to NEWLY (important that it do not exist) created directory under Local -> 4. Home -> Music -> Tst (using ES Explorer)
4. Run MM
5. Folder Browser -> library -> /storage/emulated/0/Music/
6. folder "tst" is missing and you cant play new track

Tested in 136. I'm able to replicate the bug (newly added tracks fail to get added to the library) following the steps outlined by Peke.

It's strange, because the file in the Tst directory does get added to the Library after MMA is restarted a second time...

According to IM conversations:

Please confirm if you see this file in default music application. The problem is probably caused by ES file explorer that doesn't refresh the MediaStore db. There is nothing we can do about it in this case.

But please note that I don't experience this issue with new ES file explorer.

in deep tested Using steps from 0010881:0036297 in 142 and results are:
+ It shows in tracks and other library browse views
+ Tracks Shows when using Folder Browser -> Files -> /storage/emulated/0/Music/

- Track is not shown unless played (from any other view) when using Folder Browser -> library -> /storage/emulated/0/Music/

Can you please confirm it. As it is really strange like you pointed and it should be considered a bug.

Tested with 143 on a Nexus 7, using current version of ESexplorer and cannot replicate. i.e. the tracks appeared within the >Folders>Files>Storage>emulated>0

I'm still experiencing bug even in 143, here are more clear steps for testing On Nexus 7 (should be same on other devices):
1. Run MMA
3. Copy one file from LAN (network) Using ES File Explorer to Local -> Home -> Music
4. Return MMA
5. GO TO Folder Browser -> library -> /storage/emulated/0/Music/ and track will not be shown within list (Even number of tracks is invalid)
6. GO TO Folder Browser -> files -> /storage/emulated/0/Music/ and track will be shown as expected
7. GO TO Tracks and locate Copied file and play it
8. GO TO Folder Browser -> library -> /storage/emulated/0/Music/ and now track track will be shown and number of tracks will be correct.

I guess it caused by little delay of FolderLibrary sync, for clarify:
Folder Browser -> files - shows new track in real time, immediately when file is copied
Tracks Browser - shows new track after MediaSync
Folder Browser -> library - shows new track upon FolderLibrary sync, which is executed after MediaSync.

Does issue occur after progress spinner in action bar disappear?

fyi: on an S3/JB 4.1.1 it doesn't occur as long as some time elapses between copying the file and running MMA.

Tested in 156 and copy of media files in latest ES explorer triggers Media Scan on my LG L5 using latest JB 4.1.2 (updated last night ny official LG update)

MMA do not show updated tracks until scan is finished.

Same goes for Nexus 7 Using JB 4.3

Unfortunately as Rusty pointed an behavior in 0010881:0036602 it can be observed on Sony Tipo Running ICS 4.0.4 and we can't do anything about it for now.
