Summary | 0001093: Virtual CD Deletion --> error message & tracks not removed from the hard drive
Description | If the user attempts to delete VCD tracks from their drive there are several related problems: 1) Deleting a CD containing VCD tracks or deleting VCD tracks: any tracks that are associated with that CD (via Virtual CD), are removed from the Library, however, the files remain stored on the HD. 2) Deleting an Album or Artist (or other node) which has tracks that are stored on the Virtual CD: the entries are removed from the Library, but the copies on the Virtual CD are not removed. 3) Deleting VCD tracks while they are playing: the above problem occurs and in addition, the following error message appears: "Cannot delete xxxxx. Access is denied. The file may be in use or you may not have access rights." This error message shouldn't appear--what should appear is the same confirmation message that appears when the user attempts to delete a playing music track. 4) There's insufficient granularity in terms of the scope of the deletion operation. i.e. when deleting a CD, the user may want to a) Remove the CD and associated tracks b) Remove the CD but retain the tracks. Similarly if they delete a track from the VCD, they may want to a) Remove the track from the library without deleting the file or b) Remove the track from the Library and delete the file. At the moment, the architecture of the VCD prevents this issue from being solved The longer term fix (with the new VCD implementation described in 0000246), is to offer the user a choice: Are you sure you want to delete [x]? ( ) Remove Library content from Library only (o) Delete Library content from Library and Computer [Yes] [No]
