Summary | 0011081: Terminating USB sync sometimes makes devices non-Syncable over wifi
Description | Sometimes, if the user terminates a USB sync during the 'Preparing list of files' phase, the device ends up containing 'phantom' entries of tracks from the sync list (but not the actual tracks), and subsequent Wi-Fi Sync operations don't sync the sync list because MMA/MMW 'think' that the tracks are already on the device. The steps I've used to trigger this (not consistently) are: 1 delete all track/playlists from the device 2 perform a usb sync of 5 playlists and 1 artist 3 wait ~6 seconds and right-click and terminate the sync operation 4 disconnect the device 5a perform a Wi-Fi sync operation --> nothing syncs (and no tracks appear to be on the device) 5b connect the device via usb and examine its contents --> MMW shows the tracks appearing on the device The only way to solve the problem is to delete the device profile / device database, and resync from scratch. Note: sometimes the bug in 5a and 5b occurs, sometimes only the bug in 5b occurs, and often neither bug occurs.

Rusty, I would like to clarify some steps, because I've not been able to replicate and also by going through MMW code I haven't found a reason for this behaviour. Re step 1) - how you delete the tracks/playlist? By using MMA or by using MMW when connected over USB? Could you generate MMW debug log of steps 2&3 so that I could see in which part of USB sync you terminated the sync? |
