Summary0011296: MMA Notification is too large
DescriptionIn many environments, the current MMA notification is too large, and takes up a very large portion of the notifications window.

I would suggest that the size of the notification should be configurable:
1) Large: as is
2) Medium (use as default): Shrink the current notification bar so that the size of the Artwork matches the height of 3 lines of text (Title, Album Artist, Album), and reduce the amount of space above/below the buttons
3) Small: Limit the height of the window to 2 lines of text. i.e.
[Album Art], <Title> / <Album> , BACK, PAUSE, NEXT, STOP

Configuration:
In Options > General, below 'Show in notifications bar':
Notifications size
Medium

Notification size:
Small ( )
Medium (o)
Large ( )

Note: if we don't have the time to implement the 3 options, we can just modify the current notification so that it is similar to the 'Medium' one described above.

To clarify, there are actually two options in Android
 (1) to show the default small notification
 (2) to show a larger version (or, to be exact, give Android the larger version and Android decides whether to show the large or small one based on several things)

I agree that the current large version is a little too large and so I've modified it.

We could make it more configurable in the future, but it doesn't seem to be too urgent, decreasing priority.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'there are actually two options in Android'. i.e. are you saying that users can configure Android globally whether to use large or normal notifications? Or that MMA already has a config option for Large vs Normal notifications?

I couldn't find either--my proposal was that MMA itself should allow the user to choose what size notifications the music app should trigger.

It was a clarification re. what Android's API offers - i.e. that (1) is always possible and that (2) is _sometimes_ possible, subject to Android version, other apps running, etc.

So, we can add the configuration, but:
 - it wouldn't always work
 - it probably isn't really important after my update of size of the larger version.

As described here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=73752#p377589 , even smaller notifications are required for some devices (lower resolution / skinned UIs that don't leave much space).

We could do this automatically, but I would suggest that:
-On first install MM sets a default based on the resolution
-UI allows the user to modify the initial default

Per IM discussion with Rusty, will be implemented as an option

Show large notifications
Shows larger image/controls in notifications, if possible
