Summary0011414: Users don't understand what a sync server is
DescriptionIf a user has installed mma, they may not necessarily be familiar with MMW or what a sync server is, and will not know how to proceed when they see:

Select sync server
=======================
<Searching...>

To remedy this, we should implement something similar to what's been implemented for MM8 (details at #10271 ).

Select sync server
=======================
<Searching...>
-----------------------
(the following appears if no sync server is found after e.g. 5 seconds)
If you haven't yet installed a MediaMonkey sync server, it can be downloaded via: http://www.mediamonkey.com (links to http://www.mediamonkey.com/android/10/server )

[Email me the link]

If the user clicks 'Email me the link', the following email is sent:

Subject: Link to MediaMonkey sync server

Message:
To sync MediaMonkey for Android, you'll want to install MediaMonkey to your desktop. See details at:
 http://www.mediamonkey.com/android/10/server
TagsNo tags attached.

I would rather put it like this:
-------------------------------------------------
Select sync server
=======================
<Searching...>
-----------------------
(the following appears if no sync server is found after e.g. 5 seconds)
If no MediaMonkey sync server have been found within 30 Seconds please refer to WiFi sync troubleshooting at http://www.mediamonkey.com (links to http://www.mediamonkey.com/android/10/server)

[Email me the link]
--------------------------------------------------

That way we will eliminate possible loss of users due the common misconfiguration of routers, not started/installed MMW, ...

Per discussion with Marek, I'd extend the Rusty's proposal as follows:

1. Add [Troubleshooting] button next to [Email me the link] button, so that users have an easy access to things like router configuration tips, etc.

2. Modify URLs so that they are shorter/nicer. It seems that we'll hardly ever need version info and so I'd change it as:
 - http://www.mediamonkey.com/android-download
 - http://www.mediamonkey.com/android-troubleshooting

It is fixed in build 177

But I was just thinking about the button text. Because it can be sent by any installed application...not just by email.

Imho, [Send me the link] sounds better. What do you think?

Links are active. They'll be updated at release.

Tested 226 on Nexus 5 / Kitkat, and this functionality doesn't seem to be working.

1) uninstall MMA
2) delete /MediaMonkey directory
3) re-install MMA
4) Click Select Sync Server
--> Searching... and after 10 seconds (and even 5 minutes) there is still no feedback in the UI re. the fact that a sync server needs to be installed!

It was caused by unsupported upnp device on your network (QNAP Systems ... )

Fixed in build 228

Strange, I have QNAP and do not observe any issues.

Rusty, what is your QNAP firmware version? Mine is 4.0.5.

I'm also on 4.0.5.

In any case, the issue seems to be resolved in build 228.
