Summary | 0011908: Custom fit / Automatic equalizer
Description | This is an idea for a mechanism to automate equalizer settings to personalize them to the individual and to the listening equipment they're using. The basic idea is that: - Users' equipment has sonic peculiarities - Users' ears (incl. right and left) have sonice peculiarities - Users have a difficult time quantifying what these particular differences are, and an approach to help ease this would be to take an approach similar to that of an eye doctor ("which is better this or this"). This could work as follows: - Add a button [Custom fit...] - Present sounds to the user in the middle of each frequency a) For each of the 10 frequency bands, present the sound in each of the right and left ears until the user indicates that the sound is the same volume: . . "Which is louder" [Right] [Left] [Same] b) For each of the 10 frequency bands, compare the sound in each of the adjacent frequency bands, and keep iterating until the user indicates that they are the same e.g. . . 1 vs 2: 'Which is louder" [First sound] [Second sound] [same] . . 2 vs 3: . . 3 vs 4:
