Summary | 0012013: Review Windows Auto-Play
Description | It is a regular complaint that MediaMonkey takes over Windows AutoPlay when inserting devices/discs. Including complaints that users are unable to associate it with other programs. It seems prudent that we review if MediaMonkey "takes over" AutoPlay (without user prompt) and/or if MediaMonkey can cause AutoPlay to no longer list other sofware as options.

LL, I can't replicate this (tested on Windows 8). i.e. when I insert a CD, Windows pops up a dialog that allows the user to choose whether to use MM to autoplay the CD--it doesn't do so automatically. Are you experiencing different behavior? |

I'm not as I've disabled Auto-Play for everything. However this is regularly raised by users as negative feedback. I don't know if MMW automatically sets Auto-Play to itself (Apple device users complain the most about this) or that users forget they set MMW as default action at some point. This is why I raised it for review as I don't know how apps and Auto-Play interact (can an app even set itself as default?). |
