Summary | 0012123: MediaMonkey upgrade process results in crash on start
Description | I had published 1.0.6, but unpublished it because it seems to have a problem in which it crashes immediately upon launching without any sort of errors (a black screen appears briefly and then it exits). I have tested and replicated this on both a Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 via the following steps: 1 uninstall MMA Beta 1.0.6.292 2 install MMA 1.0.6 3 at end of installation process click 'Done' 4 run MMA by clicking the icon in the app drawer= --> crash I've also replicated this on a Hisense Sero 7 Pro running Jellybean as follows: 1 MMA 1.0.5 was installed from the store 2 Double-clicked MMA 1.0.6 using ES Explorer --> MMA installed 3 Clicked 'Done' in install dialog 4 Clicked MMA icon --> Black screen appears and MMA crashes (whenever the icon is clicked)!! 5 Double-clicked MMA 1.0.6 using ES Explorer --> MMA installed (again) 6 This time, clicked 'Open' in the install dialog --> MMA ran correctly (the DB Update dialog appears for a second, does the update, and the MMA UI appears) The key point is that in all cases: -Clicking 'Done' on final screen of the installer results in crash always occuring -Clicking 'Open' on the final screen of the installer results in MMA running as expected Before I unpublished the App, I was able to verify that the same occurs in the Google Play store: -If MMA just installs, then clicking the icon triggers a crash -If the user clicks 'Open' via the Google Play app, then the app runs as expected, and subsequently clicking the MMA icon works as expected. Note: -This crash does not occur with MMA 1.0.5. -Peke cannot replicate this bug on any of his devices -I verified that all my devices are running Google Play build version 4.8.20 (not sure whether this is relevant)
Additional Information | Note: in the google store, the following message appears (I'm not sure if this is related: Devices currently running version 259 are no longer supported by the current configuration. Such devices will not receive upgrades. API levels in range 8+ and Screen layouts containing any of [small, normal, large, xlarge] and Native platforms excluding all of [armeabi, armeabi-v7a, mips, x86] and Features containing all of [android.hardware.TOUCHSCREEN] )

In addition to Rusty testing if MMA is started from PRO Icon no matter if 292 beta or release is installed. It starts normally and all is working as expected. Only downside is taht in task manager on Nexus 7 I see two MMA started eg. pro and Beta/release. |

There are already complaints in the Google Play store that users are experiencing this issue. i.e. if MMA is installed and then run by clicking the MMA icon --> crash BUT if MMA is run by clicking the 'Open' button in Google Play --> it runs correctly |
