Summary | 0015993: Multiple track editing: facilitate choosing attributes of one of the selected tracks
Description | At 0015806, Peke raised the issue that for tracks with multiple attribute, it should be possible to edit multiple such tracks so that the order of the attributes is the same across multiple tracks. Currently that usecase isn't simple because MM forces the user to check off or manually enter each of the individual attributes. Similarly, if the user selects multiple tracks with variations on spelling of e.g. an Album, the user must re-enter or scroll down to the album to choose it. Also, at 0015900, there's a related usecase: when the user is editing Ungrouped Multiple-Artist albums. This functionality would make it easier to choose from among the existing Album Artists of the tracks in question. Both of these usecases could be simpler if existing entries could appear at the top of the list. e.g. for the first case: TrackA: Artist1;Artist2 TrackB: Artist2;Artist1 1 Select both tracks and right click Properties --> Text/combo box for Artist appears empty (because the fields are different) 2 Click the Artist combo box --> [ ] TrackA: Artist1;Artist2 [ ] TrackB: Artist2;Artist1 ------------------------------------ [ ] Aarvark [ ] .... 3 User clicks the second option so that all tracks are modified with those artists in that order Note: Above the dashed line: a max of e.g. 10 options appear (possibly based on number of appearances) Below the dashed line: all individual options appear (even if they duplicate what appears above the dashed line Future: Once this is implemented, we may want to also implement this functionality in an editable variant of the Summary column. This would be useful in Files to Edit > Ungrouped Multiple Artist albums as it would allow the user to quickly update the Album Artist or Year for all tracks in the album.
