Summary | 0016450: Filters & AutoPlaylists attribute chooser: filter rather than scroll to the attribute
Description | At 0016429 Peke suggested that whenever the UI requires the user to search from among a list of alphanumerical attributes (e.g. when setting a Playlist rule, a filter rule, (and possibly when setting sync rules re. which files to sync)), that MM5 should work more like Gmail when it allows users to type an entry into the To: list. i.e. it should: a) Automatically filters for entries that match the list (rather than scrolling to the desired recipient in a list of all recipients) b) That the filter should be applied not just to the beginning of the attribute (e.g. 'Roll' should filter for both 'The Rolling Stones' and 'Sonny Rollings' c) That what the user types should actually appear so that s/he can press ENTER to select the typed value exactly as it appears d) That this functionality be used when filtering with either '=' and 'contains' (Peke suggested this, but I'm not sure I agree that it makes sense for 'contains').
