| Description | Currently if CD is Not found on MusicBrainz it results in 404, but FreeDB contains that CD without problem. Uploaded CD image file and corresponding FreeDB File to FTP. An Update, U2 Disk I tried to yesterday worked today in both MM and MM :( Created image of another one, please let me know hat type of image you need. as that one is 700MB |

ok, the U2 disc works and is this disc: https://musicbrainz.org/cdtoc/LVQWjck4NFCcc5cIpyskY.a8nVA- The other CD: "Hot Dance / The 80's double collection English No. 1 Hit, CD1" with FreeDB ID = 0e10fc12 and MusicBraniz ID = Tnj4ad6O876zATHhoQHr13UB_jU- really isn't in the MusicBrainz database. The only CD with same FreeDB id (0e10fc12) is this: https://musicbrainz.org/cdtoc/pwzpHBfUqnxtkXc8IfIhl36hkfE- which is totally different CD. |

I expanded the debug messages, in the future builds you can see both disc IDs (i.e. MusicBrainz and also FreeDB) when querying MusicBrainz: [3256] MM5 [16672](R) MusicBrainz: querying discID: mtkfRL0vEkxBHu_iVenpKs9O.Jw- , FreeDB: 970E3C0B Then you can put the FreeDB ID here ( https://musicbrainz.org/search ) like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dom2k78fzkxfh00/screenshot%202020-06-22%2015.28.21.png?dl=0 To verify that the particular CD release is (or isn't) in the MusicBrainz database. |

As for the absence of many CDs in the MusicBraniz database (against FreeDB) I guess that the only way is to utilize (or found ) alternate freedb server or another metadata source (like Discog - which would probably result in similar issues though). As Peke has the sources from freedb.org backed up then we should be able to utilize and run own Freedb server. Assigned to Jiri for evaluation. |

Alternate freedb server that works currently with MM4 (EAC uses the same): Protocol: Freedb (HTTP) Server: freedb.dbpoweramp.com ------------EDIT------------ Petr is utilizing our own Freedb server now: Protocol: Freedb (HTTP) Server: mb.mediamonkey.com => So we should just decide whether we want this server as the default in MM4 (or whether we want to leave the MusicBraniz as the default with potentional fallback to FreeBD ?). |

I would suggest: - for MM4: Freedb as the default (our server mb.mediamonkey.com) - for MM5: MusicBrainz with fallback to Freedb => implemented |

Verified 2259 Both MB search and FreeDB fallback work. Hopefully that will be the end of issues. |

Re verified 2259 using one one "80s HOT" CDs from 0016742:0058626 and FreeDB is correctly used instead of false MB CD Closing. |
