Summary | 0016877: Restrictive access to MM Managing files in multi user enviroment
Description | In some cases where there is number of users on same PC and MM5.DB is shared between users (eg. either by using Portable MM5 or Custom MM5.DB location accessible for all users) it would be nice that there is an option to partially restrict user access to managing features (similar to Party mode). Restrictions would be separated in several categories: - Metadata editing, track deleting, Auto Organize, Auto-Tag, Add/scan to library - Playlists editing (allow list would be welcome eg. Pavle would be allowed to edit/manage/add all under Pavle subplaylist of root playlists - Device Management (ignore newly connected device and only devices created by current user can be configured) - Each user will have own UI settings (already working for Normal installs and in portable own subfolder in portable installation to provide own UI settings) Currently this is how I handled that situation is that I put MM.DB in All users public folder and for each user on PC I use custom DBName in INI to point to same MM.DB file -> Create static Subplaylist with User name and tell them to add/create playlist and all tracks they want to have synced on their devices. Then in their device profiles set to sync only these playlists in order to have their desired music on device, but not sync those that they do not want. This works for years with me and my wife and past 3 years with kids. They ask me to put new tracks in Library and they simply sync using WiFi.
