Summary | 0017147: Installer overwrite warning is too severe for some cases
Description | As outlined in feedback at https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=97827 , the following warning is too severe for cases where the user is just updating MM5.x (portable) --> MM5.x+1 (portable) OR MM5.x (normal) --> MM5.x (normal): Warning: This will overwrite an existing %s installation! Are you sure you want to proceed? I would suggest that it shouldn't appear at all in the cases described above, since the next dialog in the install wizard describes how the update will proceed (e.g. installing portable mode to specified directory). But it should continue to appear for the cases for which it was originally designed i.e. Installing portable mode to non-portable install Installing non-portable mode to portable install Installing MM4 to MM5 install

Verified 2277 For me it works OK, now eg. not received prompts unless it meets described criteria. |
|
Re verified 2280 and 2281 No more annoying prompts. |
|
a) In the summary screen, perhaps it's still too unclear that database and user settings are safe. Suggestion: MM5 -> MM5: "This will over-write an existing (non-portable/portable) installation! Your database and settings will not be changed." MM4 -> MM5: "Warning: This will over-write an existing (non-portable/portable) installation! You will have the option to import your database and settings." b) Also, if you attempt to install non-portable MM5 in the same location as a portable MM5 installation, there is no warning prompt and the summary screen says it's over-writing non-portable. |
|
For MM5-->MM5 (where there's no change in installation type), no warning is required at all. i.e. the string shouldn't even appear in the summary screen. i.e. the warning should only appear for the following cases: Installing portable mode to non-portable install Installing non-portable mode to portable install Installing MM4 to MM5 install I'd prefer not to add more strings for 5.0 since several translations have already been completed. |

Verified 2283 @Rusty, left resolved in case other language strings changes are needed, otherwise should be closed. |

Verified 2307 No more user complains, translation strings are also closed for 5.0 |
