Summary | 0017585: Change "Allow just one instance" to allow portable and non-portable installs to open side-by-side
Description | When testing, I often have a non-portable install open, playing music, and a portable install open which I'm making changes to. The "Allow just one instance" option is fantastic to prevent multiple instances of the same install from opening at once, but it also prevents other installations from opening at the same time. It would be much more preferable if the option allowed for non-portable installs to be open side-by-side with portable installs, for people like addon/skin developers who will do the same thing. Note; this would likely require a change for the option's tooltip. My proposal: "This option forces a maximum of one non-portable MediaMonkey window to be open at any time." and "This option forces a maximum of one portable MediaMonkey window to be open at any time.", depending on the install type.

I think it's fine to use the existing wording (i.e. 'allow just one instance' can mean allow just one instance of _this_copy_ of MediaMonkey). That said, I doubt it's that common a requirement (mainly e.g. for testers or DJs who run multiple instances). So if it's trivial to make this change, it could be useful, but if not, I'd reduce the priority. Assigning to Ludek for triage. |
