Summary | 0018721: Make file Extension change like Media Storage letter re assign
Description | Currently when you clone old hdd to new one MM see it as new drive, which is easily ratified by Editing Media Properties and assigning new Drive letter. This is unfortunately not possible with file extensions when user wants to move from lossy to lossless format with keeping track stats eg. MP3 -> FLAC when filenames are same. O would suggest to make things possible with a simple option that would like locate moved missing just ask user to specify new Extension would trigger simple check if files exist and update library, along with re scanning files info (eg. Bitrate, channels, Gain index) which as result would take up some time but would save people decades of stats and carefully created playlists. In MM4 it was available thru https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13000

Currently I don't see a simple way how to achieve this: 1) From the user perspective: So that user don't have to manually organize the new loseless copies (outside of MM) and has an easy UI way 2) From implementation perspective, i.e. which metadata from the new copies to preserve etc. Probably the most reasonable way is still to scan the loseless copies to the library at first, auto-organize them as you like and then use script like "Advanced duplicate find and fix" to merge the metadata (+ play history etc.).
