Summary | 0020065: More and better organized Android Auto root nodes + shortcuts
Description | Current root nodes are usually displayed in Android Auto as shown below: Tracks | Playlists | Artists | More More ---> Genres Albums There are a couple of issues with this layout: A) Some of the current nodes aren't even that useful since there are often too many subnodes to navigate quickly (e.g. There can be > 100 artists and 100s of albums. B) There's no access to other nodes such as Composers, Years, Ratings, Podcasts, Audiobooks C) There are no shortcuts to recently played nodes Suggested changes: 1) Change the menus to: Tracks | Recent | Playlists | More a) Tracks (same as currently) b) Recent: Shows links to the last 10 recently _played_ (not browsed) nodes so that users don't have to 'deep dive' to get to favorite items e.g. -- Playlist > Good stuff 4+ 561 Tracks -- Year > 1970s (all) 300 Tracks -- Rating > 4 Stars 600 Tracks -- Genre > Rock 333 Tracks -- Audiobook > Harry Potter 33 Tracks -- Podcast > Leviathan b) Playlists c) More Genres Ratings Years Artists Composers Albums AudioBooks Podcasts As proposed at 0018110, it would also be useful for users to be able to customize what nodes to display as a future feature. Once this is implemented, I would consider removing Albums from the list of browsable attributes.
