Summary | 0021089: MediaMonkey volume meter doesn't apply to both Audio and Video volume
Description | When testing out 0021039 there was some strange behavior related to the MediaMonkey's volume control. Essentially, there are three controls that appear in the mixer: a) 'MediaMonkey 2024' audio volume b) 'MediaMonkey 2024' youtube volume c) 'MediaMonkey Video Helper' for video volume What's strange is that adjusting the volume in MediaMonkey: A) while audio is playing --> 'MediaMonkey 2024' audio volume is adjusted in the mixer B) while youtube video is playing --> 'MediaMonkey 2024' youtube volume isn't adjusted in the mixer (it's initially at 100%) C) while local video is playing --> 'MediaMonkey Video Helper' for video volume isn't adjusted in the mixer (it's initially at 100%) Also note: as described at ~76653, the instance of the YouTube-related volume control is associated with an extra version of the MediaMonkeyEngine.exe , both of which remain running as soon as a YT video is played. The effect is that: - adjusting the volume in MediaMonkey works differently for audio and video (for audio it actually adjusts the volume and the mixer volume, but for video it only adjusts +/- x% around the volume level configured in the mixer - the mixer shows different volume levels for the three types of audio - switching between audio and video causes shifts in volume The workaround is to manually set all 3 volumes to 100% in the mixer and to never adjust the MediaMonkey volume.

|
Fixed in build 3100 (release after first 2024). All volume controls grouped to one "MediaMonkey xxxx" where xxxx is the main version number. Everything now sets relative volume of the application, not master volume. With exception WASAPI exclusive, where it is global volume by design. So user can set max. application volume in system volume mixer and control in MM5 is relative to this volume (like it was for MMDS, video and YT already before). |
