Summary | 0021125: Organize Files can leave empty nodes
Description | Using Auto-Organize Files on all files in a Pinned Location node can leave the empty folder. Refresh/restart don't fix this,
Steps To Reproduce | 1 Pin a Location sub-node 2 Select all files in a sub-folder in this Pinned node 3 Use Organize Files to move the files to a different folder --> Folder becomes empty as expected, however remain visible in the Media Tree

I am unable to replicate and in the logs I see that the operations proceeded successfuly and the folder shouldn't be in the MM5.DB anymore.. But you are saying that it is still there also after restart? 1) Could you please share your current MM5.DB (with this empty folder still visible) for analyzing? 2) Was it specific to this folder only? 3) I guess that the leftover remains also under the Location node (not only under Pinned) ? |
|
1. Uploaded to FTP 2. It happens on many, but not all. 3. Yes, Darling Girls is also seen under Entire Library > Location and after many restarts 4. 0020230 Deleting these folders fails 5. Doing Organize-Files from the Entire Library > Location node also failed to remove the now empty folder, so it isn't specific to Pinned (but the parent folder is Pinned). |

Analyzing your MM5.DB and seeing that it is instance of 0014319 where there were also ghost folder entries in the database (with Folders.TrackCount > 0 even when no tracks are referenced) a) Hard to say how this could happen, maybe an incomplete or failed 'Rebuild database' operation in the past? Anyhow 'Rebuild database' should fix it and then 'Organize files' will no longer leave ghost folders, could you please confirm? b) The ghost folders should definetly be removeable, but Remove now fails on such a folders, to be fixed as 0020230 => Fixed in 3046 |

So far so good on 3047. All folders have been removed on Auto-Organize. |
|
Just experienced this on 3054, Log/screencast/db in same place for Shadow of Doubt failing to remove from Pinned in the Media Tree. |
|
Hmm, the reason is that the folder has still TrackCount=380 in the DB (for some reason) :-/ Like if DB triggers don't update the value correctly.. |
|
OK, I haven't been able to replicate, but thanks to the DbgView log I finally found the culprit and fixed it for the next build 3058 |
