Summary | 0021345: In certain evironments, upgraded MM installations interfere with Windows Explorer and other apps (regression)
Description | At least 2 users are experiencing a bug in which running MMW 2024 causes Windows Explorer and other apps to stop responding normally (Buttons fail to respond / Inability to use explorer). Closing MMW doesn't solve the problem--the machine must be rebooted! Key points: - The issue doesn't occur with build 3053 but does occur with 3057 (which implies that this is related to change 0021202 made in build 3054). - Both users have updated to Win 11 24H2 so it's possible that it's related to a change in that version of Windows - The bug doesn't occur with a clean install, only when upgrading from an earlier version of MMW - The bug isn't accompanied by an increase in CPU utilization

Fixed in build | 3079 | ||||

Fixed in 3075 + supplied testing EXE to the affected users to confirm the fix |
|
Users confirmed the bug being fixed with the testing EXE, but with 3076 they are still observing the issue (although 3076 includes the same change), so re-opening and solving via the tickets.. |
|
user dypsis from ticket 7967 indicated that build 3054 is fine, so 0021202 is not the culrpit So it must be another change, maybe 0021196 in 3055 or 0017735 in 3057 ?? Sent him build 3055 and wating for the tests.. |
|
User indicated that 3054 is fine and 3055 is broken.. Seeing changes between 3054 and 3055 the only one that could have an impact is 0021196 i.e. SVN revision 42638 by Petr changes in SetForegroundWindow --> SetForegroundWindowInternal ??? In both user's debug logs I see line [24472] MM5 [8520](B) SetForegroundWindow failed! so it is probably the culprit.. So assigned to Petr to create a test build for the user without the change [Ticket # 7967] |

Verified as much as possible in my environment + no regressions in 0021196 (though related new issue 0021364 was found). Waiting for user feedback on the official build to close. |
