| Description | Looks like there is space to improve Auto Playlist behavior 1. When Auto Playlists do not have Limits and have Sort order set they do not Auto-Refresh and User needs to enable Limits, set larger limit (eg. like 10k files) and chose select by option with Auto Refresh to get desired results 2. Selected by Sort order (Auto Refresh) do not exists only static one. 3. Option to Set Auto Playlists always Auto Refresh even only sort order is selected. | ||||

Assigned to Rusty for review, I am not sure whether any of these are really needed/desired ? BTW: I can't replicate the original issue reported ( https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=109655 ) In my case 'Random Album' really sorts by random album. |

As pointed It works correctly but do not Auto Refresh on playlist load. Point of this bug is that it auto refresh like Random track (Auto refresh) do refresh on playlist load and only if Limits are activated othervise it is one taht is raandomply selecte don Auto Playlist creation. In some cases CTRL+F5 do not work also. |

The issues that I'm seeing are: 1) When sorting by 'Random Album' a) triggering a refresh (via the menu or via CTRL-F5) doesn't work b) There's no Auto-refresh option 2) When sorting by 'Random', manual refresh works, but there's no Auto-refresh option. I believe that auto-refresh was implemented for random selection (with Limits) but not for random sorts because when it comes to limits, auto-refresh is needed in order to trigger changes to the Playlist content, whereas with random sorts auto-refresh isn't really needed since the user can 'Shuffle' to achieve the same effect. However, although this logic holds for random tracks, it doesn't hold for random albums (i.e. shuffle can be used to shuffle tracks, but not to shuffle albums). Potential courses of action: A) Fix 1a (Manual refresh fails for album sorts) -- BUG B) Add 'Shuffle by album' to the Shuffle functionality (to be specced) C) Add 'Auto-refresh' functionality for Sorting (low priority) |
