Summary | 0002459: Ability to Build Playlists for Portable Devices/CD Burners
Description | As described in 0002458, users don't intuitively understand how to drag and drop tracks to a device (since dragging and dropping to the device node in the tree behaves differently depending on exactly where the tracks are dropped and since drag and drop using the Device Synch button isn't that intuitive). Moreover, dragging to the device node is not very usable since the node is often not visible if the library nodes have been expanded. There are 2 proposed solutions: 1) Add a Drag & Drop Actions window, that makes this very obvious, and is always accessible: ----------------------------------- | Drag and Drop Actions . . . . [x] ----------------------------------- | [icon] Build Playlist | [icon] Burn CD/DVD | [icon] Synch to Device ----------------------------------- This window would be enabled by default and could be disabled/enabled via View | Actions. The default location could be at the bottom of the tree. 2) Expand the functionality of the 'Now Playing' window so that it functions in a manner similar to WMP playlist, in that it can be configured to: a) Show the Now Playing list b) Show the Burn CD/DVD list c) Show the Synch Device list To do this, the dialog should contain 3 tabs, one for each of 'Now Playing', 'Burn List', and 'Synch List'. The user could then choose which of these tabs is active at any point. I believe that the second option is preferable.
Additional Information | Media Center has an implementation similar to the first proposal. See: http://www.jrmediacenter.com/features.html
