Summary0002490: Reduce priority for preparation of album for burning (auto-conversion)
DescriptionSome users are annoyed by the fact that the following burn-related operations take over their PCs:
-Preparing tracks
-Actual burn

The solution to this is twofold:
a) The preparing tracks operation should be at 'normal priority'
b) The burn operation should occur at whatever priority the user sets and should persist. This can be set in either the burn dialog OR the user can simply modify the setting via the status bar.

I prefer do it on the 'Burn Settings' page of burning wizard.

I don't think there's any configuration needed, as I see it, in 3.0 there are two aspects of this:
 - new on-the-fly burning - the priority should remain as is (i.e. High), because actuall burning is better to be done with higher priorities.
 - old two-stage process - it should prepare tracks using the default thread priority (as is currently configurable in Options) and as soon as burning stage starts, it should be changed to High.

I agree. Based on my testing the new On-the-fly audio burning gives me the best result (the most fluently) with burn priority set to tpHigher (High) as currently is.
In the other cases the burn priority is always set to tpHigher (High) and also works fine for me.
If the user's computer is slowed down by burning operation then I guess that this is a problem of drivers/system or something like this rather than burn priority in MM and I guess that also Nero slows down the user's computer while burning is performed.

The single preparing process' priority has been fixed to default instead of Higher in revision 1520.

This isn't fixed for auto-conversion. i.e. when a track is being auto-converted to be burnt to the CD, the CPU is monopolized by the auto-conversion process (even though actual CD burning has yet to begin). The auto-conversion should occur at the 'default' priority (i.e. it should be considered as 'preparation' ).
