Summary | 0003169: Alternative to the node tree: an item list (reduced node levels)
Description | Certainly when using MediaMonkey for non-organizational purpose, the node tree is not very user-friendly. An alternative library browsing method could be an item list (in the place of the tree), which shows only the items you want to see (e.g. so see Playlists, there shouldn't be an Artit node open). --> e.g. a bar of big buttons on top (Now Playing, Library, Devices, Playlists, ... largely corresponding with the current top nodes). Below these would be a smaller bar with buttons for the "subnodes", like Albums, Artists, Available devices, ... . Below these 2 rows of buttons, there would be the items view, showing Albums, Artists, Devices, Playlists, ... depending on the selected buttons. These items would then be first parent nodes (if applicable). The interface should then also make it easy to sort the items in the items list, e.g. using a thin bar (or a button with dropdown) with sorting options like alphabet, year, sub-item count, ... . It should be possible to drag&drop across the item views (by dragging over the buttons, the necessary item view would open).
