Summary | 0003415: Synchronization field mapping
Description | Because of the fact that different users may use MM fields for different purposes (esp re. Classical Music) and because different devices use fields in different ways and/or support a limited number of fields (some users have complained about Creative MTP devices using Artist when Album Artist should be used), it would be useful if MM could Map fields in the library to different fields on the device. We may want to support field mapping in different ways depending on what the primary filter is for any given track (e.g. for Classical music, users might want to map Composer to Artist). We would also need to decide whether this would work for MTP/iPod synchronization (i.e. only mapping for the DB) and/or mapping for tags as well (in which case this would apply to the generic plugin as well). Jir suggested a UI along the following lines: Modify metadata for device: Artist field: _Artist____ [v] {Artist, Album Artist} Composer: _Composer___ [v] {Composer, Album Artist} ... and maybe something else... We need to spec this further...
