Summary0004149: Conversion: Album Art isn't correctly converted
DescriptionI tested conversion (not replacing original) in which MM just transcodes a track to a lower bitrate and found that:

WMA: Album Art is preserved
OGG: Album Art is lost
MP3: Album Art is lost

I didn't test other formats...

I tried several conversions but haven't found any problem, AA was always properly copied to the new track. Please provide more details - was it tagged or linked? Any other specifics?

You're right--in MM, the Album Art is preserved--I was testing with MP3Tag, and in MP3Tag, the Album Art was missing for both MP3 and OGG. This is very strange, though, because MP3 Tag previously recognized MM Album Art.

I'll post the source and transcoded files for you to have a look.

Edit: after further analysis it seems that both the source and transcoded files Album Art can't be read by MP3Tag. So the real question here is why and whether it's an MM problem.

I'm using the latest MP3Tag (v2.39) and tested the uploaded 4 tracks:

1. MP3: Both MP3s (i.e. original and converted) correctly show album art.
2. OGG: Neither OGG shows album art, because it seems that MP3Tag doesn't support album art for OGGs.

Jiri, can you reverify that the transcoded mamamia file correctly shows the Album Art? I just retested with MP3Tag 2.39 and I can't see it :-?

It's really so. Possibly a bug in MP3Tag?

So back to the original problem. User sent me wma files that trigger the problem for him, but work fine on my machine. Nonetheless, the output files that conversion generated cannot be read via MM's My Computer node!! I've never seen anything like this--it just doesn't recognize the files?!

Posting this to the ftp server (try examining the Output directory via the My Computer node).

The files actually properly appear in My Computer node, the only problem I see is that they don't have any properties stored in tag and so they look like empty in MM interface. My guess is that there is some problem with WM components on user's machine, as I wrote in the forum post.
