Summary | 0005403: Manual Sync do not work when Auto Sync Is Selected (Usability)
Description | When user set for example select some tracks and wants to sync to device even MM has already synchronized device. So if user try to sync to device selected tracks MM just do Prepare Tracks and do not sync them. This is confusing for user as it implies that MM had Synchronized those tracks. May I suggest that we revise MM behavior for future version and make things little bit clear and user friendlier by: - Manual sync should be always available when user click sync icon and have Selected tracks - Auto Sync Should be enabled/disable (as it is) - Context Menu should have "Redo Auto-Sync to Device" or click on Device would Initiate Auto-Sync Again or something similar that will make things less confusing for Average user and make things better working out of box

I this to be a usability issue, and not a technical problem, so I'm puzzled why you would call this a regression. i.e. the sync button has always functioned based on the mode in which it is set to operate: -if set to Sync Selected: it syncs selected tracks -if set to Auto-sync: it syncs based on auto-sync rules The downside to this approach is that: -if set to Sync Selected, the user may not realize this and be puzzled as to why it's not auto-syncing -if set to Auto-Sync, the user may not realize this and be puzzled as to why selecting a few tracks and clicking the button doesn't sync the selected tracks. I don't agree with the solution that you offer, but I agree that there's an issue. That said I still don't understand what regression you're referring to. |

I was not sure how to classify usability issue, like you said in downside it may look to user as an regression(it looks at first sight "Preparing tracks"-> Nothing), but as you pointed it is matter of usage. Yes you are right, it gets little bit puzzled. Few days ago somehow it changed to Auto-Sync and I got puzzled when I wanted to sync some tracks to player several times and nothing. Evidently that it is an issue as for users it is not visually separated unless you check what sync option you use. |
