The most recent comment in the forum seems to indicate that the problem might be worse than originally stated. i.e. it sounds as if synching such tracks would cause the MM library to be overwritten with incorrect data from the device. i.e. a bomb in the MM library will be overwritten by a single star (after the initial sync). |

I think that (unless there's some bug in the device firmware), this shouldn't happen, at least I have never seen it in my tests. Since half-star ratings cause this kind of problems, I think that we might make them optional for MM 4.0. By default, only full-star ratings would be enabled and so users wouldn't have any problem. Just those wanting to use half-stars could enabled them in Options. |

Pushing to 4.1. Are you proposing that ratings should be converted on the fly as they are with the iPhone? e.g. [ ] Convert ratings to 5 stars during sync |

No, my proposal was to disable half-star ratings completely in MM interface - and give user an option to enable their usage somewhere in Options dialog. |
