Summary | 0006296: Playing track causes auto-sync to write rating tags | ||||
Description | 1 Choose a WMA track having a rating in the library but no RATING WMP or SDB/Rating in the file. 2 Auto-Sync it to a device (here tested with a SUBST drive) 3 Inspect for RATING WMP or SDB/Rating tags e.g. using Mp3tag - verify none found 4 Play the track to completion once 5 Auto-Sync it again 6 Inspect for RATING WMP or SDB/Rating tags e.g. using Mp3tag Expected: file unchanged Observed: file updated, RATING WMP or SDB/Rating tags found This is a particular PITA for me because it falsly registers (by setting Modifed) an update in the synced file. The result is that all tracks I play in the library are unnecessarily synced and pushed through the rest of my process pipeline that starts from that sync.
