Summary | 0007590: UPnP / DLNA : auto-conversion to other formats (besidse wmv)
Description | We need to evaluate what other formats should be supported / which are technically feasible: -AVI (mpeg4): supported by most UPnP clients, but will be difficult to implement streaming conversion since contents of the header are only known after conversion has completed (the index is saved after the whole conversion process at the end of the file). -MP4: need to evaluate client support (many clients support MP4, but unclear if they support streaming MP4). There is a special type of MP4 format adapted for streaming purposes. So it is possible to convert on the fly to MP4, but requires to implement another muxer for this quite different format. -VP8 (WebM container): need to evaluate client support, but it should be possible to convert on-fly and stream it.
