Summary0008022: Startup Crash Caused by DeskPlayer.dll
DescriptionAfter several hours with user solving few other issues that were bothering us eg. issues after upgrading user to MM4 Without uninstall of MM3 (Separate folder) I noticed that in users WIN XP SP3 -> TaskBar -> Toolbars there was no registered MM player.

1. Repeated Install Process without success to show MM player.
2. Proceeded with Cleaning MM to make full Clean install (folders and registry)
3. one of DeskPlayer.dll from MM3 Failed to delete
4. Installed MM4
5. crash on startup !!! Silently
6. Uninstalled
7. Restarted PC
8. MM crash on Startup !!! Silently
9. Used Free Tool Unlock It! to Free DeskPlayer.dll and delete it
10. MM crashed again (now Logs are attached)
11. Installed MM on Top of Existing version
12. MM crashed again (now Logs are attached)
13. Manually registered DeskPlayer.DLL using regsvr32
14. MM player showed in Toolbars
15. MM started without problems

If user have problem with micro player, he should simply uninstall MM, restart PC and then install new version.

This do not help (6,7,8) in case MM4 is installed prior MM3 uninstall.
Especially if MM player is not shown in list of Toolbars.

I was not able to fix until our IM talk to confirm manual DeskPlayer registring.

Peke, any idea why this is occurring in this particular case? i.e. many users have upgraded without such a problem?

No unfortunately, user had several playback and stability issues (error 214 on startup) with MM3 along with no ability to show micro player like users reported in forum. It is possible that problem was caused by users system and collection of apps he used on the system. I thought that it is very strange that after several MM reinstall problems were still present until I manually registered DeskPlayer. After which all problems vanished.
