Summary | 0009058: Drag and drop a file to MM should add track to the library
Description | This is an improvement request from the customer. For adding a file to the library Most users expect the drag & drop of a file to application to work when the file is dropped to the library area. Right now drag and drop to the application succeeds only when you drop a file to Main Tree area.

To clarify: - D&D to a specific node in the tree should add the track(s) to the library, and behave as if the track was dropped to a specific node in the tree. - D&D to NP should add the track to the library, and behave as if the track was dropped to the designated location in the NP list. - D&D anywhere else should just add the track to the library |

1) This is dangerous as users may not expect that file will be tagged and added. If this is implemented there should be an option to disable Tag & Add and only do Add. 2) This will probably upset many users as many prefer to keep certain files out of Library while still being able to play them. 3) I think this may be the best solution. If user drags & drops file on any location other than Player, Now Playing, Now Playing node the file gets added to the Library. Only when dragging onto a Playlist would it be useful that the user can drop the files in a specific position. 4) Alternatively the whole interface would accept drag & drop of external files. Once dropped a window would popup ask the user what to do. 4a) If dropped on Now Playing, Now Playing Window or Player it would ask to add files to playing queue and/or to Library (3 options) 4b) If dropped on a specific tagging node (like 5 star node) it would ask to add the files to the Library and/or tag the files (3 options) 4c) If dropped on a Playlist it would inform user that files need to be added to Library and provide options to add files in position dropped, end or beginning of Playlist 4d) Anywhere else it inform user that files will be added. Cancel/OK would allow user to cancel addition altogether. |
