Summary | 0009430: MP4 Conversion fails silently
Description | K-Lite Codec, QuickTime, MM 4.0.6.1477 MM Codec 2.0.1.15. Trying to convert a MPEGII file to MP4 fails to do so without any warnings to the user. It creates the file at the destination at a few kb and then nothing happens. iPOD sync with conversion failed as well.

Note, the problem seemed to have been caused by ffdshow not being installed properly (the video icon would not show on conversion in systray), but the problem remains that the user isn't informed this conversion is failing. When attempting same to AVI there was an error message and subsequent message mentioning missing codec. It seems that installing this missing ffdshow codec has resolved MP4 conversion. |
|
It seems (from the log), that some DS filter (MPEG2 decoder?) was blocking conversion. The conversion was still running, that is why no error message was shown. I was not able to reproduce it. |
|
I'm no longer able to reproduce (for more logs/testing) this issue as I resolved the codec issue on this machine. |

Resolving, it seems to be problem in external decoder. Please reopen, if you reproduce it with some version of MPEG2 decoder again, I would try to debug it and try to find some workaround. |
