| Description | The in-panel tools that replace modal dialogs for Burn, Auto-tag, Auto-organize have several problems that need to be fixed before they're released: 1) Cancel button is missing from 'Auto-tag from Filename' and 'Burn' functions, so it's not obvious how to terminate the dialog. 2) Users would expect that 'Back' button would go back to the previous view (i.e. to close the dialog), but it doesn't. 3) Upon closing the dialog, the position in the tracklist is reset so the user loses what they were looking at (e.g. if organizing a set of files bit by bit, each time the user has to re-find his/her place). In addition, as described in 0010501, selection is lost, which is also a problem if the user's intent is to carry out multiple edits. 4) The Column Browser is displayed even though it isn't relevant. It should disappear along with the tracklist for the duration of the in-panel operation. Note: one other item that has been brought up by users is the fact that if MM is running in a small window, then the app has to be maximized prior to using the tool, and then subsequently minimized--an extra step that isn't required for a standalone window. | ||||

Since there are so many issues to fix, and since 2 issues (window size is more limited, and getting a large window requires extra steps in cases where MM is run in a small window) can't be fixed, the best short term 'fix' would probably be to revert the changes for auto-tag and auto-organize. Note if we leave this functionality for 'burn', we should still fix items 1), 2), 3), 4) as it relates to the burn dialog, as well as 0010729. |
