Summary | 0010736: Lyrics UI handling improvements
Description | I have tested Lyrics implementations and found these issues: For Audio files: 1. Can't be undocked Trying that continuously locks MMW 2. If docked like currently to Art and details Titlebar should be hidden and separator line should be thinner to make it more compact with rest of UI 3. It should be made possible to be as TAB of Art and Details or even better shown only as TAB of ART & Details 4. There is no setup sheet in Options, but will be added along with Lyrics search option sheet 5. I would rather make buttons below lyrics like in Media Tree, Advanced Search, ... as it would be more accessible and user friendlier Lower priority for post 4.1: 6. On Video files it could serve as Subtitle editor/viewer/selector 7. Timed Lyrics should be correctly formatted/showed (using columns/rows) with ability to remove Timings Column (Left Aligned if Timings are shown and Center aligned if Timings column is hidden) 8. Lyrics without timing should be Center aligned NOTE: This also applies to Lyrics in track properties Track properties Lyrics: 9. Small set of buttons with features: a) Play track in player and position to timing pos or start of song (No now playing is added it is just played in player and last playing track is restored on Exiting track properties) b) add Timings using mouse clicks where timing will be applied to Selection (Add on Mouse down, end timing and Move selection to Next Word on Mouse Up) c) Remove Timings d) Clear Context: 10. Remove formatting options from Main view to Track Lyrics properties 11. Add search Lyrics to Context 12. If there is no Selected lyrics I would Rename "Copy" -> "Copy (All)" and make things easier for users or add "Copy Lyrics"

Assigned to Jiri for tech triage |

13. Scrolling of lyrics do not work unless lyrics window is Clicked/Focused as it should work along with Mouse Over Event |
|
Note that most issues will be resolved by the planned UI update currently in progress by Petr. Other issues can be later entered as future feature requests... |
|
Most of the issues are resolved in build 1632 by introducing the overlayed UI. |
|
test results: 1. Solved 2. Not possible with this UI, AA Overlayed UI Overlaps Track Details and AA looks washed (Attached Mockup picture Current, and UI solution settings) 3. Still would like to have it as TAB if possible, Not all users like/use lyrics 4. Not Fixed yet 11. Not Fixed Yet 13. Not Fixed Yet Others can be suspended till post 4.1 Triage |
|
Re 1,2,3: If anyone doesn't want to show lyrics, he can disable them via context menu, then he can make window wider to show properties in non-overlayed mode. Re 4: It was added to Library sheet, we can make "Metadata Lookup" sheet later in a future version (once we add more general metadata lookup) Re: 11: Maybe we could add it to the context menu, what do you think Rusty? Not a big deal though as user can double-click to show File properties and get the Lyrics manually there (in editable mode) Note that some of these issues are discussed in 0010616 too |

2. Is fixed as reasonably as possible in current builds 3. The current implementation is reasonable--the user just clicks the AA to show the details. HOWEVER: see item 14. 11. Context menu to 'Lookup lyrics' could be useful, but I don't think it's necessary, especially if double-clicking 'Lyrics' would open the the relevant tab in the Properties dialog (instead of just opening the dialog). 13. Is fixed in latest build. 14. Upon running MMW, when user clicks the Album Art, MM opens an Album Art window (i.e. the old behavior of clicking artwork), instead of triggering the display of 'details'. This bug stops once the user makes a configuration change to the selected fields. |

Re: 14: I cannot replicate neither with 'Selected' nor 'Now Playing' track in overlayed mode. Maybe you tested a track in non-overlayed mode, i.e. when AA is beside lyrics (if window is wide enough). In that case it is expected that clicking AA opens AA window, because AA is not overlayed. Reduced the priority for the post 4.1 (lower priority) improvements (6, 7) like timed lyrics |

I just retested with 1640, and when testing 14) immediately after installing on top of 1639, the bug occurs?! As far as I can tell, whenever MMW is started for the first time and 'Show file details' is disabled, clicking on the AA fails to activate 'Show file details'. I suppose that it is starting in 'non-overlayed mode' in spite of the fact that the window is very narrow. Note: once I enable 'Show file details' _by right clicking and enabling it_, then from that point forward (until the next install of a new build on top of MM that has 'Show file details' disabled), clicking on the overlay works. In other words, to replicate 14) i right click on 'Show file details' to disable it ii close MMW iii install and run new version of MMW iv click on the Artwork --> bug occurs i.e. instead of toggling to details, it opens the Artwork image |
