Summary | 0010791: Scanning Media: Support .nomedia file for ignoring folder and possibly its subfolders
Description | Based on unofficial Android support most manufacturers adopted that if folder contains empty ".nomedia" file that folder is ignored from scanning and its content is not shown. There is one thing unclear if that behavior is inherited to sub folders or it is meant for current folder.

Additionally: 2. It could be nice to be able to set MediaMonkey Folder as Hidden by Adding "." in front of its name. |

Assigning to Marek to process as par of implementation of improved scanning for FLACs, etc. |
Corrected Assignments. As Marek told on IM it should be possible to easily implement that on devices that support API >= 3.0 due the fact that tracks are already indexed for older devices there should be no need for implementation |
1. Per IM discussion with Marek, we actually can't do much more, since '.nomedia' is already managed by Android scanner and also we have implemented our own folder configuration, so I'd consider this one as resolved. 2. This is a good idea, it makes sense. However, since it requires changes to both MMW and MMA, it's a little harder to implemented in order to not break anything. Assigning to Ludek to implement in MMW checking for '.Mediamonkey' folder (but keep creating 'Mediamonkey' in case none exists), so that in the future we could switch also in MMA. |
3. I'm not sure if this is covered by 2., but one of the problems with MM is that Videos that are synced to MMA result in a bunch of 'photos' of thumbnails appearing in the Gallery. These are generated in /MediaMonkey/Artwork So at the very least, these thumbnails shouldn't appear in the Gallery. |
3. This is covered in 1. My video thumbnails are stored in /MediaMonkey/artworks. There is .nomedia file that restricts to show it in gallery. Please check your .nomedia file (use some explorer that supports showing hidden files - I use X-plore). What kind of device is it? |
Deleted the files and resynced, and the thumbnails didn't show up in the Gallery. Closing. |
