Summary | 0010798: Allow video playback in associated external player.
Description | It would be nice and quite easy to implement feature, to allow user to select associated player for video files instead of the default internal player. I.e. user could use all catalog/tagging/organize features of MediaMonkey, but for playback he/she could use some other favourite player. I think using simple file associations would be enough.

Currently, the 'Choose Player' UI has the following options: - MediaMonkey Player - Winamp 2 or 5 - UPnP/DLNA Renderer To meet this need we could just add an option: 'Player associated with file type', however, I expect that this wouldn't work for audio files. Thus we'd have to extend the UI as follows: Audio: {MediaMonkey Player, Winamp 2 or 5, UPnP/DLNA Renderer} .....details config...... Video: {MediaMonkey Player, Player associated with file type, UPnP/DLNA Renderer} I'm not sure how important this is, tough. Thoughts? |

There could be problem with the size of the dialog, Options - Player is quite full already, I am not sure, how to arrange it. |

Since WA and UPnP configs cover also video playback, I suppose that only MM choice in the Choose Player config is interesting for this case. And since there's an empty place right below this drop-down when MM is chosen, we could show something like: [ ] Use external video player: _____________ [Browse] Doesn't seem to be too important to me either, but could be added. |
|
Good idea. Note: it might be even simpler to: [ ] Use default external video player (so the user doesn't have to configure a link) |

I agree with Rusty, user typically already has associations set in system, so it will be easier for him/her. |
