Summary | 0010850: Playlists don't update on resync
Description | I sync a Playlist with some of the same tracks, but mostly new tracks on each sync. (Playlist is an Auto-Playlist referencing a static Playlist and a random sub-section of Library Auto-Playlist). It seems that each time I sync the Playlist on MMA only contains those files that weren't re-synced (already on the device) and doesn't get updated with all the new files added to the device.

This definitely seems to be a failure to update an existing playlist on the device. On a wifi sync of a 200 file playlist it synced 178 files to the device. The device had 200 files and the Playlist on device showed 22 files. |
partly fixed in build 131 - I fixed bug caused by tracks that are present on multiple storages (has duplicates). These tracks were not present on playlists after sync. |
tested 134. There are 3 problems that I see in the course of syncing a 555 track autoplaylist: 1) The number of tracks that appear in the playlist in MMA is only 451 (instead of 555) 2) The tracks in the playlist in MMA are out of order 3) The total number of tracks on the device are 662 instead of 675 (i.e. most of the tracks that failed to appear in the playlist were actually synced, though a small fraction appear not to have been) These problems occur both on the initial sync, and subsequent syncs indicate that no additional tracks need to be synced. Note: some users are indicating that the problem is a timeout issue with larger playlists--it may be that there are 2 issues: a) timeout problem b) logic problem |
It also seems that 133 no longer creates/updates Playlists files on the device itself. It is set to sync to Playlists folder and neither internal or external playlists files show after manually deleting them and resyncing. It seemed that prior to deletion that the Playlists files were not being updated (other App showed all Playlists with 0 files). |
In build 136: the timeout problem is resolved ( 0010922 ), but logic issues remain: 1) the problem of large segments of playlists failing to sync is resolved for initial syncs. However, the issue can still be triggered if a playlist that has already been synced in MMA or MMW is edited. In such cases, subsequent sync operations will not propagate changes to the playlist. 2) the problem of tracks appearing out of order isn't observable (though I'm not sure if the issue was actually fixed, and therefore suspect that the issue is just masked because of the fix to 1). |
In build 138: - Existing playlists that have been deleted in MMA fail to sync from MMW to an external SD card (debug generated & sync failure message) - Existing playlists that have been modified in MMW (tracks re-ordered) fail to sync to an external SD card (debug generated & sync failure message) - New playlists that have been added to the auto-sync list in MMA fail to sync to an external SD card (debug generated & sync failure message). This worked in previous builds, but now doesn't. - Playlists do seem to update when synced to an internal SD card in response to a change in track order, BUT the tracks appear in the wrong order on the device playlist . |
Most probably consequence of 0010954 |

Fixed in build 139 |
Playlist updates seem to sync correctly from MMW to MMA in build 139/1641(test), however, if the user edits a playlist on MMA (reorder tracks) and attempts to resync the playlist, the edits to the track order on MMA don't propagate to MMW. |

Re-resolving due to test error. |
