Summary | 0011379: iOS7: Playlists in MM can be emptied when deleting device tracks via MM interface
Description | It seems that these steps can empty playlist in MM: 1. Select PlaylistA on sync-list and auto-sync to an iOS7 device 2. Delete some tracks by navigating iPhone->Music directly in MMW interface => PlaylistA is missing the tracks both in the device and in MM too !! When some tracks are deleted directly in the device, but outside of the PlaylistA then they are kept in PlaylistA in MMW. If they are removed from PlaylistA direcly on the device, then they are also removed from PlaylistA in MM (as expected).

Furter testing shown that iOS7 changes playlist content even if tracks are deleted in 'Tracks' view on the iPhone. This is problematic, because that way the tracks get deleted from MMW library playlist too. Therefore I changed the workflow this way: Now, MMW playlist is updated only when the amount of tracks equals (tracks reordered) or if the iPhone playlist contains more MMW tracks than the original MMW playlist. Also if some of the added tracks were tracks that are not in MMW (e.g. non-transfered purchased songs) then the playlist is not synced to MMW (in order to keep consistency). Unfortunatelly I can't seem to be able to do more ATM and I believe that this solution is the best as it prevents from unintended data loss. Fixed in build 1665. |
