Summary0011550: .pla playlist created on device upon connection to PC
DescriptionWhen I connect a SG3 (running JB 4.1) to MMW, several 0B .pla playlists are created on the device's internal memory--one for each .m3u playlist that exists on the device's external SD card.

Other possibly relevant factors:
- when the device is connected, MMW does not display the playlists that exist on it (that were synced via WiFi sync)
- the device was previously WiFi synced by deleting all MMA configs and playlists (internal and external), and then doing a WiFi sync using the existing MMW profile.
- the internal SD card device profile is disabled
- the playlist format that is configured in the sync profile is .m3u (default)

In the log i see that you removed (disconnected) the external memory before the scanning actually finished, that is probably the reason why you haven't seen the playlists in MMW.

Otherwise I don't see any playlists creation in the log, also you haven't performed sync at all.

Couldn't another app create them?

BTW: how you deleted the PLAs ? Maybe they just silently fail to delete?

OK. It seems that the issue is independent of MMW.

If I connect the device to the PC, without MMW or any other mediaplayer running, then upon disconnecting the device and browsing it with ES Explorer, the 0B .pla files are created on the device.

In other words, either Windows is doing it, or Android's media scanner is doing it. The only question is whether Android assumes that the /Playlist file is always supposed to be in internal memory or not.

Resolving, as it doesn't seem to be related to MMA or MMW.

As for storing all playlist to just single (Internal) storage, it doesn't seem to be a good idea, since it would result in all kinds of conflicts.
