Summary | 0011687: Lock screen don't resume playback after MM has terminated
Description | I haven't verified if this is new to recent builds, but I noticed that if playing content and then pausing via the Stock lock screen player --> MMA terminates (as expected) BUT, if the user presses Play on the stock lock screen player --> Nothing happens! Is this expected behavior?

Fixed in build 215. |

In build 216, the default lock screen player often disappears once the MMA termination timer has expired, even though MMA is still running!! e.g. 1 play content in MMA 2 wait for stock lock screen to appear, and press pause on the lock screen player --> after x seconds (where x is the amount of time configured in the termination timer), the MMA icon is removed from the notifications bar, and at that time, the stock player disappears so the user can no longer resume playback! 3 sign in to the device to get past the lock screen --> MMA is running! I would have expected that after step 2, the stock lock player would continue to display the last track that had been paused so that the user can resume playback at any time--especially considering the fact that it appears to be running after step 3. |
|
FYI, I have a little different results - nothing disappears, but Next button becomes unusable in step 2. Play buttons still works though and after than, even Next works fine. |
|
Unusable Prev/Next buttons fixed in build 218. I can't reproduce Rusty's issue, but maybe debug log can help. Rusty, please send me your debug log upon this issue occurs. Use build 218. |

Tested 216, and replicated the problem again. Submitted debug log: 0AWX0R9H9V Here's a bit more detail re. the steps to replicate. Note also that this occurs on an S3 but not a Nexus 5. Note also that it often won't occur if step 0 isn't performed--i.e. once the Stock Lock Player is used for a bit, the bug seems to not occur: 0 In the Android App Manager, make sure that MMA isn't running 1 play content in MMA 2 wait long enough for the lock screen to trigger. Press power to turn on the device. --> Lock screen appears with stock lock screen player showing. 3 Press pause on the lock screen player. --> after x seconds (where x is the amount of time configured in the termination timer), the MMA icon is removed from the notifications bar 4 wait long enough for the lock screen to trigger. Press power to turn on the device. --> Lock screen appears with the stock player showing, but it then disappears after a second!! 5 sign in to the device to get past the lock screen --> MMA is still running |
|
Can't reproduce on S4, hopefully the log will help. |

Posted debug log G2RV5T0E7N for build 218 (custom). Bug occurred exactly as described above for 'Don't fear the reaper'. Bug occurred as described below for 'Satisfaction': 1 play content in MMA 2 press power to turn off the screen and trigger lock. Press power to turn on the device. --> Lock screen appears but stock lock screen player isn't showing!! |
|
Tested build 219, and the 'Satisfaction' bug is now always occurring. Debug: BGYP81VV2B |
|
Option "Remote controls" is disabled. This is reason why stock lock screen player isn't showing. |

Test build 219 is working except for: 1) MMA icon sometimes appears in notifications bar when it shouldn't: 1 Run MMA and play a track 2a Leave MMA in foreground | 2b Run Chrome so MMA is in background 3 Wait for lock screen and press Pause in lock screen player 4 Wait for MMA notification to timeout and then make the lockscreen re-appear ---> If MMA had been running in the foreground: when the lock screen appears --> MMA icon displays If MMA had been running in the background: when the lock screen appears --> MMA icon doesn't display--it only appears when the user presses the lock screen player's Play button. Is that difference intentional? I would have expected that the MMA icon shouldn't appear in both cases. 2) MMA Playback process occasionally fails to terminate (I'm still trying to figure out how to replicate this) |
|
Test build 220 fixes problem 1). I'm still unable to replicate the second issue, so this can be resolved. |

Fixed in build 220. |

Verified 220. |
