Description | Long Press to get the Options menu (menu with Options, Equalizer, etc.) also starts search, thus overlaying the Options menu with the keyboard (Back button resolves this). | ||||

Setting as Urgent, since it's probably trivial to fix. |

I am able to replicate on one device. It starts Google Now application. But this is a system shortcut. I don't think that anything is wrong here. http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/774829-menu-button-long-press-google-search-can-disabled.html |

It was also my mistake to think that long press is needed for menu, short press suffices. However this raises the question if long press should hide the menu? |
|
Yes, I suppose that we could avoid showing the menu in this case. |

I still see the menu open on long press, this results in the need for 3 back taps to get out of keyboard, search, and then menu. |
|
Confirmed that the issue persists on GS4. |
|
Fixed in build 222 It started Google now search on my device. And it worked for me. But I found out that the long press behaviour of home and menu button might be configurable and that you are talking about in-app search. So I tried another approach to hopefully cover all possibilities. |

Verified 245 NOTE: Some devices that do not have dedicated Switch Task Button (Like Nexus 7 or Asus MemoPad 7HD have) use long press on Home to show list of tasks adn long press of Menu to initiate Search. |
