Summary | 0011783: Album Artist is missing for tracks copied externally to MMA
Description | 1 Copy a compilation Album to e.g. /Download (or to an sd card) using Windows Explorer 2 Insert the SD card if necessary, and make sure that the directory is enabled so that MMA scans it (and trigger a scan if necessary) 3 View the album in Google Play -->Album is listed by 'Various' as is indicated in the Album Artist tag 4 View the album in MMA -->Album is listed by <Artist of one of the tracks in the album> !! This has been reported numerous times, but it was never clear until now that the problem was related to _externally_ copied content (content synced via MMW is fine).
Additional Information | Test note: was tested with Dirty Dancing album, by copying it manually to Nexus 5 Reported at: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=74579

You are right. But this is how MediaScanner parses the track. I don't know why. When you try to use some app that uses MediaStore (Player Pro, Apollo) you will see same result as in MMW. I don't know how new Google Music gets the correct data. But it certainly doesn't use MediaStore. I think that we are not able to fix it without own tag parser. |
