Summary0011883: Can't reduce volume when screen is locked
Description1) Play tracks in MMA
2) Activate lock screen or wait for it to activate while tracks continue to play
3) Raise volume using h/w volume control
-->volume goes up
4) Lower volume using h/w volume control
--> Nothing happens!

Note: this issue appears to be specific to Kitkat.

Note also that the manifestation of the problem for the user is a bit different than for me. See his description at the link.

I can't replicate on Nexus 7 (KK 4.4.2).

I can't reproduce nor to emulator. Depending on what the user says, it seems that hw buttons really controls media volume, but it has no effect on our playback. So I have specified stream type before each start of playback
(MediaPlayer.setAudioStreamType(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC)).
Hopefully it helps.

Fixed in build 230.
