I can't replicate on Nexus 7 (KK 4.4.2). |

I can't reproduce nor to emulator. Depending on what the user says, it seems that hw buttons really controls media volume, but it has no effect on our playback. So I have specified stream type before each start of playback (MediaPlayer.setAudioStreamType(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC)). Hopefully it helps. Fixed in build 230. |
