Summary | 0011974: Auto-converted Tracks resync after playback if auto-conversion rules have changed
Description | When wi-fi syncing, MMA 236 / MMW 1699 often unnecessarily sync tracks that have been played/paused. 1 Wifi auto-sync --> everything is in sync 2 play/pause tracks in MMA 3 Wifi auto-sync --> some tracks that were played/paused in MMA will sync from MMW-->MMA, resulting in duplicate tracks appearing in MMA. MMW log is posted to ftp in which 'Streets of heaving (Promises Promises)' is synced in this manner, resulting in duplicates appearing in MMA. MMA Log: N72W64AY3U

In the MMW log I see that the file 'Streets of heaving (Promises Promises)' was downloaded by MMA. But the reason is unknown from the MMW log. Just an idea: Isn't this file also a duplicate in MMW library that somehow got to the sync-list instead of the original one? On the sync-list this file is only once though. On the other hand the MMW log is missing some debug lines, this usually happens when you start DbgView after MMW. DbgView needs to be started prior MMW start. |

Upon further investigation, the issue is that a change in auto-conversion rules causes tracks that have been played to resync, if they match the new auto-conversion rule. e.g. 1 Set auto-conversion rule to convert flac to MP3 2 add flac tracks to Playlist A (which is on the auto-sync list) and initiate wi-fi sync --> tracks sync and convert to MP3 3 Change auto-conversion rule to convert flac to OGG 4 Play tracks from playlist A 5 Initiate WiFi sync --> Flac tracks from playlist A that have been played will resync as OGG files! Moreover, rather than replacing the original MP3 files, they will appear on the device _in_addition_ to the corresponding MP3 files! |
