Summary | 0012360: iOS 8.1.1 failed sync
Description | Sync will fail each time if Music app is open. For testing I used factory reset iPhone 4S with iOS 8.1.1 Results are that if Music App is not started as soon as phone boots MMW do initial sync correctly, but if Music app is open while MMW sync than iphone library get corupted and no new files are seen on device. Sync settings: - Delete ALL media on device prior to sync - Scan on device connect - Auto sync on connect - 1 Auto playlist with criteria (100 tracks, Is accessible, Random Z..A) NOTE library contain bout 20k of tracks so there should be at least tens of new tracks on each sync NOTE: as iphone wes previously on iOS 7 I firstly tested it on that IOS and all syncs (3 to be exact) went flawlessly.

Two logs are uploaded on FTP |

I have done the same tests with my iTouch 5 (upgraded to iOS 8.1) and the 100 tracks were mostly synced in 1 minute, in the worst case the overal sync time was 2 minutes. I haven't noticed any slowdown when the Music app was opened. Also the corresponding files were successfully deleted on each sync so the device keeps and show still only 100 tracks properly. Most probably your iPhone 4s is slow to response during sync (there is 30s communication timeout), I will see more in the logs. For some reason I could not successfully log on to our FTP today, could you please share the logs another way? Also, could you test syncing tracks to your 4S using iTunes (with iPhone Music app opened) to see whether it is also so slow? |
|
I've done the tests and they ended up within 1-2 Minutes for 240-251 tracks 1 playlist. MMW behaves same as described. |
|
Peke, here http://happymonkeying.com/beta/iOS8/iPhoneCalc.dll is updated DLL. I disabled the timeout for the "Asset Manifest" completely so that we can find whether you ever will get the message or whether there is a communication problem. Also, please try to uncheck [ ] Delete files not on sync-list checkbox to find whether the track deletion has an impact on this. |
|
Peke, any news on this? Could you generate debug log using the provided iPhoneCalc.dll ? |

Hi, I do not have original device anymore, but As I have new 4S I tested this DLL and when using that DLL iphone is not recognized at all. Anyway I proceeded with further testing and debugging so to conclude tests I think I have found when it happen and how to make workaround. Althrum this iPhomne acts little bit different and delays were not that longs I concluded these tests. Test 1: 1. Erase phone (Complete) 2. Connect to PC and synched with MMW (no prior syncing were done) 3. I was observing the described delay Test 2 as used for earlier similar issues: 1. Erase phone (Complete) 2. Connect to PC and synched with iTunes (1 track, 1 Playlist) 3. Close iTunes 4. open mmw 5. sync with mmw 6. I was observing the described delay but delay was constant during sync (it can be described as in 0012362:0041031) Test 3: 1. Erase phone (Complete) 2. Connect to PC and synched with iTunes (1 track, 1 Playlist) 3. Disable Audio/Video Sync and itunes erases all audio/video files from device 4. Close iTunes 5. open mmw 6. sync with mmw 7. sync was fast as it ws in itunes if not faster I even created video of tests if needed. NOTE: to confirm behavior I've done same thing with iPod Touch 4G and behavior is same and Using TEST 3 solves (for now) slow sync. |

I asked friend to get me original device back for testing. I also updated Description as it seams taht new device is still on 8.1 and not updated to 8.1.1 like original device. Should I update this to 8.1.1 and test again? BTW your comment 0012360:0041030 is related 0012362 rather than this bug. |
|
OK, lowering priority and assigned back to you until you have the device again. |
|
I couldnt get device back as friend already sold it. I updated one that is still with me to 8.1.1 and confirm that solution from 0012360:0041075 helped. |

Maybe we can resolve as won't fix? |
