Summary | 0001305: Portable Device Synchronization: SDK for unsupported devices
Description | It still seems as if there are many portable devices that aren't USB mass storage devices and/or MTP devices (in particular, some phone devices). It would be very desirable to support these devices via an SDK that would allow a third-party developer to develop a 'synchronization plugin' so that we don't have to develop such plugins for each device.

From Jiri: Creative seems to support 3rd party developers quite well, the homepage is: http://developer.creative.com/. There is an SDK for download (I have already seen it). I also read that they even supply free player units to Notmad application developers, I guess that if we sign http://developer.creative.com/policy/WebRegForm_2004.pdf (I haven't read it completely) and/or discuss it with them a bit, they could be fairly helpful. Note from Rusty: their license says that it can only be used for non-profit software. I'm going to have to discuss with them whether MM can use it or not. Here's an lgpl library for windows: http://www.devconcept.com/jbdirect/ And an actively maintained library for linux: http://sourceforge.net/projects/libnjb/ (BSD license) |
