Summary | 0013197: DefaultViewSettings: Move from INI to Registry
Description | There was some reports that users have incorrect View and that they can't reset it and that following http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/151/11/reset-mediamonkey-for-windows-interface-to-defaults do not restore the defaults I would suggest that we move [System] -> "DefaultViewSettings" to Registry under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MediaMonkey\Interface" so that it will be easier to Reset to Default UI
Additional Information | LIK-841-36337 -> MediaTree was enabled in View and deleting Interface registry didn't helped MediaMonkey.ini deletion finally fixed it Screenshot attached

This is already fixed in 5.0.0 where all UI and view related settings is stored within persistent.JSON file (while the most of the UI unrelated settings is still kept in MediaMonkey.INI) As for the MM4 fix: Is this issue somehow common?? Seeing it first time, so IMHO only the KB + script update should be enough? Did you find some reasons for the issue? The issue seems to be just a consequence of something, or is it consequence of the registry deletion ? |
I'm unable to replicate on my system, but another user indicate that it maybe is consequence of moving MMW settings to other PC eg. MM.DB and MediaMonkey.ini where screen resolution and settings are different. Will get in touch with user to debug the problem. |
Resolving, Moving Portable MMW from one PC to another with Higher resolution can make UI look like that as positions and screen res are different, but as noted it is fixed in MM5. |
Verified 2234 Only possible risk issue is when moving from 4k Display -> 1080p one where MM5 can render outside scope. Maybe add new bug to save user Res in Portable version and reset Windows positions or maybe sav eMM settings according to res so that in case user moves back to 4k it is greeted with familiar interface. Thoughts? |
Not sure how transfering from 4k Display -> 1080p works currently, I have not tested. Please test and if there is an issue then open a new issue for this. |

Verified 2234 Done added 0016455 for future improvements in Portable MM usage. |
