Summary | 0014745: CPU utilization is abnormally high when scrolling
Description | When scrolling through albums, or tracks (either in the main tracklist or the NP list), CPU utlization goes up to about 55% in MediaMonkeyEngine.exe. This is surprising especially since: - It doesn't include the additional 12% utilization of MediaMonkey.exe + helper - It's even this high when just scrolling text! In contrast, doing the same with: - Explorer: 25% - MM4: List mode: 22%, Album art mode: 30%

We can't do much about it, this is the price for a more robust rendering engine (i.e. Chromium) vs. native rendering. Some minor optimizations will possibly come, but we can't expect any significant improvement. |

I tested with Spotify which also uses chrome. It also had much higher than expected utilization on scrolling (went from 1 to 47%, in contrast to MM5 which went from 1 to 60%, if one includes utilization of all MM5 components). Moving the cursor over the UI uses about 40% CPU in both apps. Closing. |
